Winterlicious

Hohoho everyone,

Charlotte tagged my in her Winterlicious tag earlier today and as this tag does not require too many pictures I was all in right away. I have so many other great posts planned for you (22 – I just counted my little list) as well but the light is horrid at the moment. It feels like it is literally not getting dark out there at all. So here we go with a tag for now and I hope that this week (I am home all week for studying) I will get some light and find the time to take nice pics of at least a few things.

1/ Favorite winter nail polish?

My new favorite I have to say is Essie’s „Beyond Cozy“ from the new winter collection. It’s a shimmery gold with a hint of silver and it is just such an amazing color – something I have never seen before.

2/ Favorite winter lip products?

During my vacation in Florida I got my hands on some products from „fresh“ – the sugar lip balm and the sugar lip scrub. As I always have chapped lips I am using those a lot lately. When it comes to color I am sticking to my Dior Nude lipstick in 459 – Charnelle. It is an extremely moisturizing lipstick while looking so super natural. I love it! (sorry for the twisted pictures put the whole media uploading thing is new and I just cannot seem to find the button to rotate pictures)…

3/ Most worn Christmas piece of clothing?

I do not really have anything, which I would consider Christmas clothing. We are not too much into Christmas sweaters etc. here in Denmark and neither in Germany. So all I could say is: regular chunky sweaters. I however got a new sweater from Ralph Lauren Denim & Supply with some Norwegian pattern on it – I guess that is quite wintery in a way.

 4/ Most worn winter accessory?

Scarfs! I am a scarf person and have I do not know how many of them. My favorites are four (rather similar) scarfs from Abercrombie & Fitch, which I love and wear to death.

5/ Favourite winter scent/candle?

In the States I stocked up on Yankee tartes (post still to come) and my favorite scents come with some vanilla in it. I also really like the cinnamon tarte but boy – was that a strong smell in the beginning. Quite overwhelming.

6/ Favorite winter beverage?

We do not really have a lot of Starbucks in Denmark. Actually only three – two of them at the airport and the third one just opened recently and I have not have had a chance to go there yet. Our other big coffee brand is called Barasso but they do not really have Christmas beverages. They came up with a version of a café latte with those little chocolate mints in pink and white inside. It takes a while until the chocolates are fully dissolved but it was still yummi.

7/ All time favorite Christmas movie?

I like the movie where the guy falls from the roof and is suddenly Santa Clause – not sure how it is called though. For me Christmas is rather about lots of oldies but goodies when it comes to movies – Home Alone, some chick flicks like Knocked Up, and Harry Potter!!!

8/ Favorite Christmas song?

I like Mariah Carey’s “All I want for Christmas” & “Feliz Navidad” – in an upbeat version though. When it comes to slower songs I really like “Hark How The Bells”. I took Choir when I went to school in the States and we had lessons every day. I especially liked the classes where girls and boys came together and we practiced the song together. It was one of the most amazing things ever – I sounded so amazing and I wish I would have our Christmas concert on video.

9/ Favorite Christmassy food/treat?

I really like something, which is called “brune kartofler” – basically little cooked potatoes rolled afterwards in liquid sugar (aka caramel). So caramelized potatoes. You eat it with a special kind of meat flæskesteg, which is roast pork with cracklings and add red cabbage. Afterwards you have risalamande, a rice pudding made with whipped cream, rice and almonds. Clue is having a whole almond inside as well and the one who gets it gets a present.

10/ What is your favorite Christmas decoration this year?

My advent candle thingy (we call it an “Adventskranz” in German). I bought a basket with a metal holder inside and put four red candles on the top. I also filled the basket with evergreens, added some fir cones and hung little red ornaments on it. Really simple, easy made but really pretty.

11/ What’s at the top of your Christmas list this year?

I posted a personal wish list a while ago and yes, those things are of course still somewhat on my wish list. However I do realize that some of my wishes are quite expensive and I do not expect anyone do buy those things for me. I actually appreciate to buy more expensive things on my own as it makes me feel like I earned the item.

12/ What are your plans for Christmas this year?

We switch between families every year. Two years ago we celebrated in Denmark and last year we celebrated with my family in Germany. So obviously it is Denmark again this year. As I have an exam on the 4th of January I unfortunately will not be able to go and see my family afterwards. But I already booked a ticket to go home for four days from the 10th to the 14th of January so I have something to look forward to as well.

Feel all tagged :)

Essie ♥ {TAG}

Mirela from Coral & Mauve was recently tagged and did a great TAG post on her Essie nail polishes. As those TAGs often help me to realize what I actually own myself and what I would still love to have, I decided to participate as well and share my also not so little Essie nail polish collection with you.

How many Essie nail polishes do you have (please show them to us)? And most importantly: Why do you have (so many) Essie polishes?

I have a total of 17 colors, which is not as big of a collection as some others maybe have, but still quite big. I started buying my first colors of FeeluniqueBeautybay & AsosWhen they relaunched the colors in Germany I also started buying a few here and there when I was at home for vacation. Otherwise we can get Essie nail polishes here in Denmark as well. You can get them at every Matas and at Magasin and by now they also have the new relaunched line with the better colors and wider brushes. Unfortunately the nail polishes cost 99kr everywhere, which is approximately 15 Euro and therefore almost twice as expensive as in Germany.

Below you can see my colors. I tried to sort them somewhat (I got pretty much colors from every color scheme) and put the name on the handle (thanks Mirela for that idea).

Which one is the latest nail polish you got and why exactly this one?

The latest colors I got are actually four colors from the Stylenomics collection: Miss Fancy Pants, Don’t Sweater It, Recessionista and Stylenomics and I bought them all togetherWhy I got those four colors? I could just not decide. I had to have Recessionista and Stylenomics because they are so special in color. And I love colors like Miss Fancy Pants and Don’t Sweater It and as my Chinchilly is still from before the relaunch and really “difficult” when applying I just got both. Yes, I admit: I was in a bit of an Essie rush :)

Do you have any top coats, base coats or other Essie accessories?

I actually do not. I have a great topcoat from Essence, which I am currently still using up and I have another bottle of an OPI top coat waiting for me (though in a mini bottle – great for travelling). I am however tempted to get both a base and a top coat when I am out of my current ones. I am also really looking forward to trying the matt coat.

I however got a nail file from Essie, which can be seen here. And together with the  Neon Collection this summer I got some toe spreaders (or however they are called) – you know those things you can use when painting your toe nails.

Which ones are your three favorite nail colors and why?

I really love Cute As A Button because depending on if you use one or two coats it is either just a really nice rose color or (when applied twice) an amazing neonish pink. Definitely a color though, which is okay to wear in an office environment.

My second favorite color is Miss Fancy Pants or Chinchilly. As mentioned above I do not own the new but the old Chinchilly, which is really horrible difficult to apply. Both colors remind me of Chanel’s Particuliere (mine unfortunately has gone bad) and I think it is a great alternative and a color, which goes in every office as well, even if it is super conservative!

Last but not least my (current) favorite is Stylenomics. It comes out almost black on your nails but you can still see a bit of green, depending on the light. I love everything burgundy mixed with dark green at the moment but that is probably because it is fall. If you would have asked me three months ago I would have probably said something else :)

Which one will be the next color you might be purchasing?

I still want to have Watermelon as I think it is a lovely color. I might also look into something more nudish-pink like Sugar Daddy or Ballett Slippers.

Besides those colors from the standard sortiment I am always curious about new limited editions coming out. From the next winter collection called Leading Lady (can be seen here) I already love Leading Lady, Where’s My Chauffeur (will be great for next summer), Beyond Cozy (favorite!!!) and She’s Pampered (lovely winter color).

Which color or finish do you miss from Essie?

I would really like some wintery colors, which are matt. Some of the summer colors already came with a matt finish but I would really like those as wintery colors as well.

Besides that, I would like to have some pure glittery colors. Glittery as in big chunky glitter like we know from OPI or Deborah Lippman. I would also like the metallics to come again or go into the standard sortiment as I unfortunately had to pass out on them as they were not available here in Denmark.

Which ones is your favorite color and which other colors should I give a more thorough look?

Love, S.

TAG – What’s In My Bag?

I always like the TAG when I see it on other blogs as I love to see what other people carry around with them and especially, which kind of products.

As I got my new Zara bag the other day I thought I can finally show as well what is in my bag.

1. The wallet from oilily. I only use wallets which have a zipper – makes me feel more save. This one I have since about 2-3 years and will continue to use it as it is big enough for all my stuff and cards.

2. My iPhone in my Mulberry pouch. I never had the money for a proper Mulberry bag (the first investment as soon as I make big bucks, lol) so this pouch has to do.

 3. Keys on a key chain with lots of other crap on it. Love the key chain as it makes it easier to find the key in my bag and get it out.

4. My little chap stick bag filled to the prim with lip products (it is really just chap stick in here without any color). The only thing slightly colored is the lip gloss you can see at the bottom from Kiehl’s – but even that is light pink.

5. My second little pouch. In one of my old bags I had two little front compartments and also some on the inside, which were perfect for little stuff. My two new bags (the one above and my great new awesome and pretty Longchamp bag in turquoise) have no inside compartments and I was sick of everything little flying around in my bag. So I started now using another little pouch for things like some lip glosses and lip sticks, hand soap, gum, my Clinique mirror, and lady products, lol.

6. My sun glasses. I usually carry them around with me all year long except when it is snowing. That is due to the fact that I am wearing contact lenses and that makes my eyes super sensitive to anything bright. My favorites are those below, which I bought in Florida last fall. They frame is matt (how cool is that?) and the glasses are not tinted super dark, which is a plus for days where it is not super bright (just for my stupid sensitive eyes).

7. Cables for my phone. And head phones.

8. My little ugly pink brush, which I still love. It’s from H&M from a few years back and I like that it is so small and handy.

Tell me – what is in YOUR bag?

Love, S.

TAG – All Those Pretty Things

One of the famous TAG’s, which is going around lately is the “All Those Pretty Things” TAG (loosely translated from the German version). At first I was only admiring the pretty things of other people and then started thinking about what kind of pretty make up products I have hidden in my drawer.

Pretty soon I realized that there are actually some really nice things I own so I grabbed my camera to share them with you.

1. Chanel – Blush Horizon De Chanel – Soft Glow Blush – Spring 2012 (limited)

I got the blush right away when it came out. I love the matt pink it gives off and the design is just gorgeous. What I appreciate: the stripes will stay that way, meaning even when I use it up more none of the stripes will disappear with usage (more about that later).

2. Guerlain Météorites Perles – 01 Teint Rosé (permanent)

The packaging – amazingly cute. The pearls just to look at – delicate. And I low the softening effect the pearls have on my face after applying (I am so light that I can easily swipe a brush with product all over my face after I applied my regular make up).

3. MAC – Quite Cute – Sakura Mineralize Blush – April 2011 (limited)

I got this blush a few months back, I think at the end of last year. But definitely months after the LE originally came out. The online store I got it at was obviously getting rid of many older things so I was able to snatch this one up really cheap (I think I paid around 10 Euro). The heart was just too cute and the color is also absolutely gorgeous on my cheeks.

4. MAC – Hey, Sailor – Crew Highlighting Powder – May 2012 (limited)

The LE is quite new so I do not want to loose a lot of words about it. I really think the pattern on the highlighting powder is really pretty. There are two things I do not like that much about it (and they are correlated): the pattern wears off with usage meaning after a while only the white background will be left over. That is actually not too bad because then at least I can use it as what it is supposed to be: a highlighter. That is the second thing I do not like that much at the moment: right now all that comes off the product is the color, meaning I can only use it as a pink blush until the color is totally gone. And that might take a while. I was already thinking about scraping the colored parts off, but I am scared to make a total mess.

5. Sephora – Highlighting Compact Powder Pink (permanent)

I got this product with my first Copenhagen Sephora haul and it soon became one of my favorites. Together with the blush I got it looks amazing. And I admit: I got first drawn to it by the little flowers on top. Unfortunately they are just in the top and I already start to loose them.

As this is a TAG I of course tag a few people where I would like to see what kind of beautiful products each of them owns (and I know they do):

Charlotte from Beauty Ramblings and the Zuckerschaf :)

Love, S.
