Travel Essentials – Part 1

The next couple of days we are spending in London for my birthday (it is official: I am not in my 20s anymore). For me any kind of vacation includes lots of planning and for a weekend trip (2-4 days) even more – after all you do not want to bring your whole closet (or makeup supply) for such an occasion.

I therefore have a little box at home where I collect mini-bottles of my favorite beauty products in order to not having to bring all of my full-size products. I thought it would be interesting for you to see what I take with me when travelling:

Shower:

SONY DSC

Aussie Miracle Moist Shampoo // Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor Conditioner // L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil // Clinique Liquid Facial Soap Mild

After the shower:

SONY DSC

Bath & Bodyworks Warm Vanilla Sugar Bodylotion // Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 // Dove Grapefruit & Lemongrass Deodorant // Origins Make A Difference Plus+ Rejuvenating Treatment // Colgate Toothpaste

Hair Products:

SONY DSC

Bumble & Bumble Texture Cream // Bumble & Bumble Thickening Spray // OSIS Extreme Hold Hairspray // Moroccanoil Hair Oil

At night:

SONY DSC

Sephora Express Cleansing Whipes // Sephora Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover // Origins Super Spot Remover // Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus // Origins GinZeng Eyecream // NUXE Lip Balm

This is it for my daily beauty routine when I go traveling. As you can see there are still some full-size products included. I have for example also some little pots I could but my face lotion inside and I have some travel size samples from Clinique I could use instead.

However my face lotion is almost empty anyway so why exchange that, right? I am checking in a suitcase anyway so no need for going 50ml only. And I also would probably cut down on hair products should I only be able to take a carry on.

What do you like to take travelling and are you refilling or do you buy mini sizes?

Love, S.

Christmas Wishlist

I think it is time for a little Christmas wish list. Even though I was able to fulfill a lot of my wishes in the US, there are still some open ones. Now I do realize that some of the items are quite expensive – that is why they are still wishes. And I most definitely do not expect anyone to fulfill them for me but am planning on doing so myself at some point in the future. But a girl can still dream, right?

I tried to find an order like “from left to right and top to bottom” but that did not quite work out. But I think the products and descriptions explain for themselves:

1. Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Correcting Serum & Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector: Clinique redid the whole Pore Refining line and I had a serum from the old line, which was not quite as expensive as this one but which I absolutely loved. As I am (almost) out of it I would like to test this one at some point. I also heard only good things about the Dark Circle Corrector so this is another product I want to give a try.

2. Christian Louboutin Pigalle Patent 85mm pumps: A shoe I adore ever since I saw it for the first time. It is probably one of the most simple shoes you can get from Louboutin but it is special nonetheless.

3. Anthropology mugs: I definitely want to have them but 17 Euro only for delivery (the cup itself is only 7 Euro) has been stopping me so far. I want to get one for Christoffer and one for me and either one of our letters was always sold out every time I looked and I did not want to pay the 17 Euro delivery costs twice.

4. Leopard-Print Haircalf Belt by Ralph Lauren Belts: I am in desperate need for new belts and even though I am having an eye on one of those Moschino belts I think it is maybe a bit too flashy for me. It also does not have to be leopard but can be just a nice dark brown but this one caught my eye when browsing online.

5. Tory Burch – Fox Velvet Smoking Slippers: Amazing slippers. I also like the ones with the little cat ears sticking out but those here are also absolutely adorable and considering that regular plain Tory Burch slippers cost exactly the same I think the price is (almost) reasonable.

6. Dyptique candles: Now this is a luxury item I have heard lots about but as I cannot buy them in Copenhagen (please proof me wrong if it is) I have not had the pleasure to indulge in them yet.

7. See by Chloe High Heel Cuffed Boot: This is one perfect and amazing boot and totally up my alley with the wide shaft and the suede. I had the pleasure and took a look at them when I was in Magasin but quickly put them down after I saw the price (I did not realize it was “the real thing” I was holding until I did see the price).

8. Vachetta Envelope Clutch – Ralph Lauren Handbags: Nice clutch which caught my eye. I also like the other new Ralph Lauren bags, which we also have in Magasin and Illum though I could not find a picture online. Simple, classic and just really really nice.

9. Tory Burch Robinson Double Zip Tote: My good friend Julia has this one and I think is it such a great bag (it also fits the 13” MacBook perfectly). I was standing in front of it in the US but did not buy it after all. I was not sure if I wanted black (did not want to seem like a copy cat to Julia) or maybe a nice brownish color (on the website it is called “luggage” – why ever that is) but they did not have the brown but only black, purple and orange and as I could not compare the black and the brown I left the bag behind and am kind of regretting that now.

10. Chatelle Albert Slippers: I first saw those on Mangobluete’s blog and fell in love right away. On the Chatelle homepage you can either buy the simple pair, one with tassels, or monogrammed ones with your initials (the ones I would pick) and I thought they look so nice to jeans – dressed up and dressed down at the same time.

11. Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette: Now this came out only 4 days after I left the US, which is SUCH A SHAME. I would have bought it right away. Now I have to wait until I can get my hands on a totally overpriced version of an European online store :/

How does your Christmas wish list look like?

New In – Clinique

If you did not know it yet I have to tell you that Clinique is not offering the same products in every country. They do in example not offer the same product range in Denmark than they do offer in Germany (less products here in Denmark) but the products being offered up here do at least look the same (though they are slightly more expensive). In the UK on the other hand Clinique offers products, where the wrapping looks different than in other parts of Europe. And I am sure it is the same in the US.

So every time I want to have a certain Clinique product, which is not being offered up here I have to buy it in Germany (or I buy it down in Germany in purpose as it is so much cheaper down there). After hearing lots of good stuff about their new even better concealer I wanted to try it. Of course it is not (yet) available up here and the same went for the new colors of the chubby sticks so I placed a little order in Germany and got the products send to my parents.

As you can see I got the concealer in the lightest shade called “natural” and it is actually rather light thought slightly darker than my MAC NC15 concealer. It is also quite thick and therefore a bit harder to apply than the MAC one. We will see how that works on my skin.

For the chubby stick I decided for the color 09 heaping hazelnut – a lovely nude, which I absolutely love.

Additionally I was able to pick two trial products and went (of course) for my beloved high impact mascara. As I was running out of mine that works quite good. The other product I could not find when I took the pictures but it is a trial size of their “Happy” perfume and it smells really good. I love that is it quite big (way bigger than the usual mini sized) and I will enjoy taking it travelling with me.

Oh Sephora…

So yesterday I had my last day of work before my little “study vacation”. As a treat (and because I actually needed a few things) I dropped into the city after work and stopped at Sephora.

As yesterday’s pizza post was so long I want to keep this one rather short and let the pictures speak for themselves:

As you can see I bought a wild mixture of things. I actually needed new nail polish remover and I had heard about the one from Sephora, where you can stick your finger into the bottle. I used to have one of those back in the days when I went to school in the States. In Germany we unfortunately never had something like this – so I went for it.

I was also out of my favorite toner from Clinique so I bought another bottle of the number 2 toner. Besides that I was looking for some little plastic containers for flying, so that I do not always have to bring the whole bottle/tube of a product. I picked up one little plastic container but might go back for more. In the same shelf they had dry shampoo in relatively small size and I always wanted to try one out but never wanted to spend the money on a regular size so I thought it was quite convenient that they had those smaller size. Additionally I wanted to look for another blush brush from Sephora. Their brushes are quite good for the money and I went with the angled blush brush 131.

And now to the two products, which just happened to end up in my basket as well: Benefit’s new lip gloss in Coralista and another pot of Figgs & Rouge lip balm. I was tempted by the lip gloss for a while now but never ordered it anywhere. At the counter I was able to try out the color and as I have the blush Coralista as well I decided to go for it (a detailed review will follow soon). Sephora also has all those little things line up in front of the cashier. It is just super tempting to just grab up a few pieces here and there (lip balm, little bath stones, perfume sticks, etc.). Going with “only” one lip balm is actually good :)

My Daily Routine Part I – Tinted Moisturizers

Even though it is summer, the weather tells me differently. I am currently using quite a bit of my free time reorganizing and cleaning the apartment. I never got to do a proper spring cleaning so it now turned out a summer cleaning.

Part of the cleaning process was also getting my make up storage in order. I threw some stuff out, which had to go due to just being too old and I packed a few things away my sister and friends might like.

When it came to foundations, BB creams and tinted moisturizers I figured out that I am left over with 6 products – there of are two of each category. I thought it would be neat to actually show you, which they are and how they work for me. So over the last two days I have been taking pictures of my “getting ready process” for you and will share my information and experiences with my two tinted moisturizers with you.

1. Laura Mercier SPF 20 – Oil Free

The Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer is my favorite as it gives me the most natural look afterwards without feeling heavy on my skin. You can slightly tell that the effect is has is also slightly mattifying and I would not necessarily need powder on top (but use it on days where I am gone all day). I also noticed that it is easier to apply any kind of blush afterwards (compared to other products).

The product is available online under www.lauramercier.com or in several stores all over the world (though the homepage seems not up-to-date as the Hamburg counter within the Alsterhaus is for example missing).

2. Clinique Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15

After I accepted that the tinted moisturizer from Clinique is actually close to a foundation I finally started to like it. Unfortunately it leaves your face quite shiny so you definitely need to apply powder on top. You can see that it actually covers quite good (except of that pimple on the right side of my face) as I had a bit of rash around my mouth that morning.

The products are available over www.clinique.de or in drugstores all over the place. I like that I never had problems with Clinique especially considering my allergies etc.
