Travel Essentials – Part 2

What would a weekend trip be without makeup, right? Yesterday I showed you my skincare items, which I take with me and today I will move on to makeup. I try to pack for all eventualities but still try to keep it simple. However as I am checking in a whole big suitcase anyway, I do not have to stick to the essentials only.

As we have quite some special things planned, I did not want to stick to the basics only but I think it is also not too bad. There are however some brushes missing, which still need a cleaning session before they are being packed :) Should I really just bring a carry-on item I would bring only one foundation/tinted moisturizer, one eyeshadow & eyeliner, one blush and one lip product).

Which are your products you could not live without and do you have any more tips and tricks for saving space?

Crème de la Crème

You know my love for tinted moisturizers as I have been rambling on about that on here quite a few times.

For the last year or so Anna has been an inspiration when it came to new products. Due to her, I splurged on the Beauty Elixier from Caudalie and the Clarins Liquid Self-Tanner, seen here, as well the tinted moisturizer from Laura Mercier, seen here, products I partially already have (and always would) repurchase.

One of the things I have had my eyes on, but did not know where to buy them, was the tinted moisturizer by Chantecaille. When I happened to stroll through Nordstrom I suddenly passed by a Chantecaille counter and just could not resist. A very nice (though very talkative) woman led me through their products and gave me a full-face make-up. I usually am not the biggest fan of letting someone touch my face but I knew that I would head home a little while later with the possibility of a shower.

She matched me to the color Alabaster and also showed me some more products. As tempted as I was by them, I left (almost) all of them in the store, mainly because Chantecaille costs a fortune. However I love the tinted moisturizer, so I got that one. It gives me that dewy look I love so much, without being too heavy. Even though the Laura Mercier product is great, it sometimes becomes a bit too heavy the longer the day drags out. Chantecaille gives me the same great glow Laura Mercier does, while being a bit “lighter” when wearing it.

I love the small opening of the tube, as you are able to squeeze out even the tiniest amount of product. This comes in handy should you feel like you need just a tad bit more.

Does anyone happen to know where you can order or buy Chantecaille in Europe? Some online shop, which ships to Denmark or Germany? Or maybe a store in the UK (I still hope to hit London at some point next summer – maybe in the summer or something) or in Germany.

New In – Feelunique Haul

I was tempted by several reviews I had seen over the last couple of weeks. Some of those products where only available on Feelunique. Some products where out of stock for a while and when two of the most hyped products came back into the store, adjoint with a discount and free shipping I could not resist.

1. Clarins Liquid Self-Tanning Bronze

I want to stay away from the sun a bit, mainly due to my many many moles all over my body. This is only for the face, neck and chest area and you are supposed to apply it with a cotton pad (which I did until now). I used it for three nights in a row now and I think I can see the first results. I rather take it slow and streak-free than the other way around. The lotion soaks into your skin amazingly fast (takes all of 2-3 minutes) and afterwards you can use other lotions, make up, etc.

2. Burt’s Bee Lip Balm

Since a couple of years I am a huge fan so when I saw that there is  a Mango version I had to try it. I took the chance and ordered a back up for my regular lip balm as well.

3. Moroccanoil Light

I am a huge fan but only owned the big bottle until now. I also lost the cap so that I only have the pumping thing left and can therefore not take it on trips or holiday. This one is a mini version of the oil and I took the chance to try out the light version (when I bought the regular one it was the only kind out there) to see if that is better for my thin hair.

4. Caudalíe Beauty Elixir

I noticed this product due to Anna from Vivianadoesmakeup. She uses it to freshen up her make up during the day and to set it in general. As she (and many other beauty bloggers) where raving about this I thought I should give it a try. I only tried this a couple of times now but so far I am not too impressed. The smell is overpowering and unfortunately not totally to my liking. And when I used it on top of my make up the other day it made it look quite caky, which I also did not really appreciate. Otherwise I think it would make a good toner and I will definitely keep on using it (and possibly use it up).

5. Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat in 1.5 Luminous Silk

On the day I wanted to order Feelunique got in Yves Saint Laurent products and I wanted to try the Touche Éclat so bad for quite a while. I am happy with my MAC concealer but I like something more liquid with more moisture for the skin around my eyes. I did not want the pure highlighter (1) but went for one nuance “darker” as I am still so super light. The shade matches my skin tone perfectly.
