Les Essentiels de Chanel – Fall 2012

The new Chanel nail polishes are out. And Iw as lucky enough to get two of them already. The new Les Essentiels de Chanel Fall 2012 line comes in three colors:

  • 550 Frenzy – A nude grey-beige, which is supposed to be THE it color of the season.
  • 561 Suspicious – A deep-reddish pink.
  • 563 Vertigo – A chocolate brown with hints of deep purple.

As I got so many lovely pinks already I decided against Suspicious and only got Frenzy and Vertigo. I was a big 505 fan and the nail polish started to discolor. Nothing will be able to replace my beloved 505 but for now Frenzy and Vertigo are good alternatives. Both colors cover fully with the second layer and can both be worn in an office environment (in my opinion at least).

The colors should be out everywhere soon (I actually saw it in only one store last Saturday and we went into many, including the airports Düsseldorf and Copenhagen) and I am not sure if it is a limited edition or if the colors will join the regular colors. So if you want to have Frenzy (or the other two) you better be quick.

It Started As A Business Trip And Ended As A Beauty Trip

The ones who follow me on Twitter might have seen that I was in Hamburg last week Wednesday for my first real business trip. It was a great experience and even though I realized how much more I have to learn I think I did a good job.

One of the peaks was, that I had the possibility of hitting a few stores before we had to take our train back to Kopenhagen. The Alsterhaus was my first choice and it was by coincidence the closest store to the place where we had our meeting.

A little overview of what I bought can be seen above. And now in detail:

1. Chanel Illusion D’Ombre in 89 – Vision

I already have the number 82 – Epatante and when I saw that Chanel brought out new colors of this eyeshadow I had to had this one. By last week it was still not available in Denmark (and it is also cheaper in Hamburg) so I had to get it. I love the eyeshadows to draw an eyeliner line or to use it as a highlighter at the inner side of my eye.

2. Dior Vernis Brilliance Gloss in 178 – Cosmo

The nail polish comes from the new summer line, which was also still not available in Denmark at the time when I left. The Dior brushes are great (similar to Essie) but the quality is even besser than Essie’s (7 days chip free!!!).

3. Clinique All About Lips

A product I had been dying to test for ages. It is not available in Scandinavia (we have Clinique but apparently we do not get every product – the boyfriend loves the caffein roll stick for his eyes, which is also not available up here). I have only tried it 2-3 times since then. Not sure if and how much I like it. Review wanted?

4. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 Oil Free in Porcelain

Widely hyped in the blogger and You Tube community I just had to try it. And yes, as far as I can tell it is worth the money. And you know my love for tinted moisturizers. I decided on the oil free version as it is supposed to be better for sensitive skin. I am in love!

5. Various goodies

Hamburg is generous! I got a mini (but still quite big) size of the Chanel lip gloss in 166 – Amour. From Laura Mercier I got a pretty decent-sized foundation primer. And from Dior I got both a day creme and an eye cream from their Hydra Life Series. The day creme is tiny but eye cream you do not need that much so that size is also good.

TAG – All Those Pretty Things

One of the famous TAG’s, which is going around lately is the “All Those Pretty Things” TAG (loosely translated from the German version). At first I was only admiring the pretty things of other people and then started thinking about what kind of pretty make up products I have hidden in my drawer.

Pretty soon I realized that there are actually some really nice things I own so I grabbed my camera to share them with you.

1. Chanel – Blush Horizon De Chanel – Soft Glow Blush – Spring 2012 (limited)

I got the blush right away when it came out. I love the matt pink it gives off and the design is just gorgeous. What I appreciate: the stripes will stay that way, meaning even when I use it up more none of the stripes will disappear with usage (more about that later).

2. Guerlain Météorites Perles – 01 Teint Rosé (permanent)

The packaging – amazingly cute. The pearls just to look at – delicate. And I low the softening effect the pearls have on my face after applying (I am so light that I can easily swipe a brush with product all over my face after I applied my regular make up).

3. MAC – Quite Cute – Sakura Mineralize Blush – April 2011 (limited)

I got this blush a few months back, I think at the end of last year. But definitely months after the LE originally came out. The online store I got it at was obviously getting rid of many older things so I was able to snatch this one up really cheap (I think I paid around 10 Euro). The heart was just too cute and the color is also absolutely gorgeous on my cheeks.

4. MAC – Hey, Sailor – Crew Highlighting Powder – May 2012 (limited)

The LE is quite new so I do not want to loose a lot of words about it. I really think the pattern on the highlighting powder is really pretty. There are two things I do not like that much about it (and they are correlated): the pattern wears off with usage meaning after a while only the white background will be left over. That is actually not too bad because then at least I can use it as what it is supposed to be: a highlighter. That is the second thing I do not like that much at the moment: right now all that comes off the product is the color, meaning I can only use it as a pink blush until the color is totally gone. And that might take a while. I was already thinking about scraping the colored parts off, but I am scared to make a total mess.

5. Sephora – Highlighting Compact Powder Pink (permanent)

I got this product with my first Copenhagen Sephora haul and it soon became one of my favorites. Together with the blush I got it looks amazing. And I admit: I got first drawn to it by the little flowers on top. Unfortunately they are just in the top and I already start to loose them.

As this is a TAG I of course tag a few people where I would like to see what kind of beautiful products each of them owns (and I know they do):

Charlotte from Beauty Ramblings and the Zuckerschaf :)

Slipper(ry) Times

After I saw those great shoes here (thanks Vicky, I love your sense of style and we have such a similar taste that I actually also got the Zara shoes after I had seen and liked them before as well) I decided to get them when only my size was left on Asos.

I liked Sam Edelman shoes for quite a while. Last year I was tempted to get the studded pumps called “Larissa” (see here) but never got around to it. But having started a new job last week those shoes fit perfectly with a nice pair of skinny jeans and white blouse and I am dressed to go. I like how much they fit into my already existing wardrobe without letting me look overdressed (I often have school before or after work and my school has a rather dressed down style so I feel more comfy in flats than heels when attending class).

Summertime de Chanel

When I walked into a local store last week (it was the 3rd of May) I was more than surprised to see the new “Summertime de Chanel” collection out here in Denmark already. Usually we have to wait way longer for those to come out over here.

As that particular store had great offers all of last week (10% on all cosmetics) I could not help but getting very very tempted. I was even luckier when the sales assistant told me that on this new collection they had 25% off instead of only 10% – so there went my last doubts. As I could not pick between the three colors I decided to get them all (as a little treat for the new job I started two days prior).

The first color, which caught my eye was 617 (Holiday). It is a bright sumptuous coral, which is very much on the orangey side. The finish is very shiny and clear. Then I noticed how different the other two colors and especially the finishes are. The collection actually consists of three different finishes.

Holiday has as mentioned that clear and shiny finish, like most nail polishes out there. 607 (Delight) is a luminous golden bronze (quite coppery when applied), which has a metallic finish (it would fit perfectly into the Illusions d’Ombres de Chanel collection from fall 2011). Last but not least there is 597 (Island), which is a soft golden beige with a mother-of-pearl finish – very elegant in my opinion.

I like how different the finishes and the colors are and I like all of them for their uniqueness. But I still think they fit great together into the whole collection. I already tried out Delight the other day and it looks great!

Did you get any of the colors or are you planning on getting any?

Love, S.
